From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the newly democratic South Africa of the price paid for freedom. The standard tour to Robben Island is 3.5 hours long, including the two half-hour ferry rides. Ferries depart at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm, weather permitting, from the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town.

The Robben Island Tour includes:

A return boat trip across Table Bay

A visit to the infamous Maximum Security Prison

Interaction with an ex-political prisoner

A 45-minute bus ride with a guide providing commentary

The opportunity to explore the Murray's Bay Harbour precinct attractions, such as the Muslim shrine, or Kramat, and the Museum Shop.

Half Day Cape Point Tour - Daily - Morning

Depart the hotel and enjoy the scenic views of the Atlantic Ocean en route to Hout Bay, once a fishing community but now a popular residential area. The old harbour area still has the charm of days gone by. The tour continues over the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive – if open, with a 200 meter drop on one side of the coach and a 200 meter rise on the other. Make your way south, following the Atlantic Ocean until you reach Cape Point (funicular for own account). Said to be the romantic meeting place of the two mighty oceans, the Atlantic and the Indian, Sir Francis Drake the explorer once called it "the fairest Cape that we saw in the whole circumference of the Globe". And rightly so; it must be the highlight of any visit to the Mother City, if not South Africa. Pass the naval base of Simonstown as you continue along the Indian Ocean, en route to see the Jackass penguin colony which has become well established at Boulders Beach (for own account) before ending the tour back at your hotel.

Option includes: Cape Point gate entrance

Chapman's Peak entrance

Option excludes: Penguin colony entrance

Cape Point funicular ticket
